"I have always been fascinated by the idea of strange and extraordinary phenomena being seamlessly merged into the everyday lives of ostensibly ordinary people.  This fascination sometimes finds its way into my short stories.  And then there is metaphor -- a stunningly powerful capability of language that reflects the way we try to understand ... everything ... including the nature of reality. The metaphorical aspects of my work often seem to evolve by themselves, with no conscious planning by me.

"The Girl and the Universe is meant to sound like a children's story, but I think there's more to it than that.  Maybe it will speak to you, maybe not."
